The Future of SEO [Event Recap]

On September 18th, 2014, we were joined by Joe Laratro of South Florida marketing agency Tandem Interactive in Deerfield Beach, Florida, as he presented “The Future of SEO (How to Deal with All Those Google Changes).”

This annual update of where the SEO and social media landscapes now stand following the latest changes from Google and other search engines was quite a treat for our members and guests alike.

If you missed the event, or even if you attended but want a quick recap, this post will highlight some of what Joe covered.

Joe started by discussing and reviewing the hot topics and trends in search today, and how we can incorporate them into our overall digital strategy.

He gave a brief overview of the search industry and the highlighted some of the significant changes we have seen along the way, including recent updates from Google such as Penguin, Panda, and more.

He then covered where search marketing is headed in the next six months, and how we can leverage this information to stand out from competitors, sooner rather than later.

There was a wealth of knowledge discussed at this event, but one of my favorite takeaways was Joe’s concept of “Real SEO.” He posed a question to the audience, and asked if we were doing real SEO. As Joe stated, “SEO is an educational journey and a long term commitment. There are no shortcuts.”

In summary, this event was very informative and helped remind many of us just how fast the SEO landscape changes. Therefore, it is vital that we stay current with the latest trends.

Of course, joining FDMA is a great way to stay updated with these industry best practices. And if you are not already a member, now is a great time to join. Click here to view our current membership specials.
